Ep 005: How To Get Into Peak State

Aug 17, 2020

Hey Freedom Makers! I’m so happy to have you back for another episode on the blog here in Season 1 where we are setting a steady foundation for the business you’re creating or scaling and getting you that unshakeable mama mindset.

In this episode, we’re going to talk about getting into your peak state and why you should always put yourself in this mindset before making decisions and taking action, so you can show up and execute as the best version of yourself!

Then we’re going to talk about how to get yourself into that state as needed as quickly as possible.

Let’s dive in!!

I think we can all agree that there are many ways we can show up each day and there are tons of factors that go into play that affect our moods.

It’s important that we learn how to put ourselves into a powerful state to achieve the life that we’re after.

We’ve been continuously growing and evolving since birth; which has led us become the person you are today and you’re going to continue growing for the rest of your life!

But, we have to realize that our current capabilities have gotten us to where we are today. Those dreams we have, both big and small, are things we strive for – because we don’t have them just yet.

What we want to do is make sure we’re leveling ourselves up throughout our lives and not stalling or sliding. We want to always be progressing forward.

If we have important decisions and actions to take that will help our goals manifest in our lives, we have to become the type of person who has already achieved those things.

What I mean by this is; imagine having your ideal outcome in your life right now. Who did you need to show up and become in order to make that happen?

Did you need to make decisions faster, work through self doubt or hire a team around you?

The future you who has achieved this success, has done things differently, because they’re in a different position than your current state and at some point from thinking of that goal and executing it successfully, they changed.

Getting into state is going to help you become who you needed to become in order to make that outcome happen for you.

Growing up, I had so many goals and ambitions. Little ole me thought I could just write those big goals down and if I kept looking at them, someday everything would work out and I would have those things in my life.

I waited and waiting wanting everything to happen, yet nothing would happen.

I thought I needed to try different things in order to get something to work.

I also worried that maybe I wasn’t good enough or it just wasn’t for me.

But, then I learned that after trying and failing so many times it really took a hit to my self confidence and I started showing up differently. I started showing up like I was already gonna fail.

I realized the person who’s living my “dream life” isn’t showing up like a failure. They’re clear on their direction, focused on their goals and showing up every day with passion, purpose and drive.

Through months of self-discovery and personal growth, I was able to overcome those feelings of self-doubt and start showing up as the person I needed to be to make that life happen for me.

Learning to put myself into state and show up as the best version of myself is why I’ve finally found my path.

You need to ask yourself: Am I in the right state that’s going to support the results I’m after?

Think of it this way; If you’re working for a company and you want a promotion, but each day you’re showing up late, leaving early, and not dressing the part, why should they choose you over someone else who comes in early, leaves on time and dresses for success while turning in quality work?

Before I get on camera or jump on a call I make sure I get myself into an energized state so I can show up excited and ready to be the best version of myself.

How boring would it be if I showed up tired, unenthused, and un-energetic?! You would be so over this!! …. You would be bored out of your mind and couldn’t skip over this content quick enough!!

I put myself into state in everything I show up for – so you’re getting the best version of me and I know when I lay my head down on my pillow each night that I tried my best today, and can only get better.

If I hadn’t put my all into this, how could I improve?

You improve when you push yourself, you improve when you’re always trying to be a better version of yourself.

Now that I feel like I’m always striving to be a better version of myself the level of excitement I experience every single day is out of this world.

If you’re not in the right state when you show up, you MUST change your state first or you’re going to create the same results you’re trying to rise above.

How would the person I’m striving to become show up right in this very moment?

I ask myself that on a daily basis!

Your ideal state is the way you need to show up to the world in the manor you’re meant to.

Okay alright so now we know why getting into state is crucial for your next level of success, but how do you do this every day?!

You can change your state in a few different ways.

You can spend the first 10 minutes of your day listening to motivational speakers, watching inspirational videos or thinking of your why.

Maybe you have your why as your computer background or written above your dream board.

This year I was at a convention (FHL) and on the last day of this conference, Tony Robbins took the stage for nearly 8 hours. Almost half the room, full of 5,000 people, got sick after this convention because it was such a physical and emotional experience. As you could imagine on the last day everyone was exhausted and half asleep after just sitting down.

I honestly thought this guy sitting next to me was about to fall asleep when all of the sudden Tony asked everyone to stand up. Then they blasted party music, had the club lights flashing and he asked everyone to jump up and down with their hands in the air and yell as loud as they wanted!

He continued doing exercises like this that involved moving your body and awakening your mind.

Each time he did that something interesting happened. The entire room shifted. People went from snoozing in their chairs to yelling, laughing and you could feel the energy shift dramatically.

Tony was able to change the state of the entire room of people, just by having them activate their mind and bodies.

I know, I know, we aren’t lucky enough to have Tony show up and pump us up every time we have to get into state, but we can learn a valuable lesson here.

Whenever you need to change your state, get up, get moving and do something unlike your previous state.

Before I recorded this episode I jumped up and down a few times, made a funny face at my dog and got all the feelings of excitement that I could.

Once you get yourself into that state you’re ready to take on the task at hand.

Now those are great examples when you’re doing something where you need energy.

But what if you want to start or scale a business?

You may need to change the state of your thoughts.

Maybe you’re thoughts aren’t those of a mom boss CEO and they are still that of an employee or the self employed.

You need to handle the decisions that are to come as if you’re already the mom boss who’s in charge here.

I recommend finding someone who is in their business where you hope to be soon.

Look at how they are showing up and serving.

Now I want you to imagine you’re showing up in the same way in your life and business. You may be fearless, confident, focused, driven, determined that nothing can stand in your way of you achieving your goals. Your mindset will forever be the lid on your container. You should repeat your way of being to stay in a positive and powerful state of mind.

This exercise I have for you now is designed to help you show up as the best version of you in life moving forward. The benefit of this exercise is that you can shift your mental “state” at any time and show up as the best version of you.

So simply put, to achieve your wildest dreams who do you need to “BE?”

Way of Being Formula: “I AM an adjective, adjective, adjective, noun!”

  • This is the exact formula to use. Stick 3 adjectives and a simple noun to describe who you are.

Adjective Examples:

Adaptable, Authentic, Brave, committed, confident, consistent, determined, diligent, dynamic, fearless, free, fun, hard-working, honest, humble, joyful, optimistic, passionate, patient, peaceful, positive, powerful, present, proactive, prolific, resilient, selfless, skilled, wise… etc.

Noun Examples:

Leader, man, woman, mother, father, brother, sister, daughter, son, visionary, entrepreneur. Avoid silly nouns to describe yourself… we want your subconscious mind to believe it!

Fill in the Blanks:

I AM a  _____________, __________________, ________________, _________________!

I want you to remember this way of being and put it next to your why. These two tools have the power to put you into the right state to make your dreams a reality.

I have a printable worksheet to help you through this exercise – if you’d like to grab it and print it out CLICK HERE.
